A systemist is someone who tries to understand complex situations, to identify the right problem, and propose solution keeping in mind that the world operate in a complex interactive systems.
The purpose of this blog is thus to have an informed discussion on some complex socio-economic issues in Canada but also in other countries. It presents summaries of evidence-based analyses to help identifying problems and potential solutions for some particular issues. Texts are presented in French or English in a simple and concise but engaging ways and tries to remain as neutral as possible in reporting existing evidence.
My name is Claude Lavoie and I am the editor of that blog. I wrote many of the texts in this blog but my objective is to bring contribution from other collaborators over the years. I am an economist and, until my retirement, a former senior executive in the Government of Canada and the Bank of Canada, responsible for providing evidence-base analysis to inform policy decisions. Over the years I have received many awards, including Governor general medal, Chief of public service prize, and Queen jubilee medal. I also had the chance to present to many academic and non-academic conferences and representing Canada at various international forums. I always believe that people should have access to balanced and simple summaries of existing evidence in order to have an informed and fruitful discussion. I grew up in Quebec City region and a hold a Master degree in Economics from Laval University. I also hold a trade security certificate and I am currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Computer Science at Carleton.
